No longer Mini

I’m a bit of a car enthusiast…Don’t get me wrong, I have no idea what is horse power or how to change a tyre, but I love the design: Audi A4s, Nissan GT-Rs, Aston Martins, hot rods…They’re all beautiful.

So I was interested to see that Mini have branched out. Their latest model, the Mini Countryman, is their first four-door car, aimed at those who like Minis, but want more room. I can understand why Mini have made this move, but I was disappointed by the Countryman. It looks bulky and awkward, like it’s been thrown together. It does look similar to the other Minis, but it’s lost the charm and sophistication that the others possess.

I’ve always thought Mini were a great brand. Fun and modern, they’ve completely evolved, and it’s such a success with a wide target market. However, it does annoy me that the Countryman sort of goes against the Mini branding. They are known for producing small compact cars, yet they’ve just launched one which is nearly double the size of the original. Maybe the Mini Countryman needs to be seen in person, but right now, I’m sadly not convinced. Then again, I don’t even know how to change a tyre.
