Another reason to love Jägermeister

Whilst doing some research for our current project, I stumbled upon the Jägermeister website. It’s quite gimmicky – when you first enter the site, a Jägermeister bottle crashes through green kryptonite-like glass - but I like it because it’s different.

There are fantastic little details within the website. The links on the main page have drop down boxes with a picture and a bit of information, and a dark green shadow is cast behind them. The page sways from side to side, following the movement of the mouse, and the glowing images hover slightly. The images are a bit of an odd selection, but I can ignore this minor issue because it’s a website that isn’t flat on the screen.

The navigation menu at the bottom is very similar to an Apple dock. The “dock” stretches as your mouse glides over it, and each link comes to life. Each one increases in size and elements expand out. For example, the Story application is a green stags head surrounded by moss. When the mouse hovers over, foliage and a Jägermeister bottle explode from behind it.

When you enter the Story page, you’re taken to a mystical setting. The Drinks page virtually shows you how to make new drinks without the Blue Peter quality. In the Sammler page, delicate floating crosses emit tiny lights, which combine to form the name of the links. Every time you enter a new page, the Jägermeister bottle in the centre is transformed in various ways.

This website is proving to be a big distraction, but it’s just too intriguing to resist. There is so much to explore, and I adore how intricate the branding has been incorporated. Plus, I’ve learnt how to make some new Jägermeister drinks.
